5 Tips for Happier Hair Now

5 Tips for Happier Hair

In life, there are very few quick fixes, and even less so with hair, which can be notoriously prone to damage and breakage. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to get your hair looking and feeling better right away. Check out five easy solutions below.
1. Throw in the towel
Towels are great for absorbing moisture, but they can be a little too effective when it comes to delicate strands. Instead of the towel you use on your body, wrap your hair up in an old t-shirt. It will still soak up excess moisture, but it won't leave your hair dehydrated.
2. Get boared
Boar bristle brushes may seem old-fashioned, but they're a gentle solution for keeping hair in check. They make hair look shinier because they help evenly distribute oil from root to tip, and they're especially wonderful for damaged strands that need a milder touch.
3. Go to the plait
Braiding isn't just fashionable, it's also an unexpected way to protect your hair while sleeping. Because of the interweaving, there's less pressure on individual strands, which can result in less breakage — and tangling, too.
4. Dry out
Hair is more vulnerable to breakage when it's wet, especially if it's not detangled with a wide-tooth comb. To prevent damage while styling, though, either let your hair dry naturally and then brush or flat iron it, or finger dry it with a blow dryer and then use your brush to shape it once most of the moisture is out.
5. Smooth things under
Most of us sleep on cotton pillowcases, but they absorb moisture from hair and skin, and the texture can also lead to more knots. For better hair every time you wake up, silk or satin pillowcases are the way to go. They're not nearly as absorbent, and their smooth surfaces keep hair tangle-free.

Hair Rules to Live By

                      Hair Rules to Live By

1. The shorter your forehead, the longer your bangs
should be. And they should start further back on
your head.

2. Protect your hair, as well as your skin, from the
sun. Use a sunscreen on hairline parts. Lip balm
will also work since it contains a high SPF.

3. To completely remove residue from hair, combine
equal amounts of baking soda and shampoo. Let
set for five minutes.

4. Occasionally shampoo hair with mild dish washing
detergent to get rid of product buildup.

5. Don’t smile when the hairdresser is cutting your bangs.
Smiling raises your forehead, and your bangs might
get cut too short.

6. Don’t cross your legs during cutting. It will make
you sit unevenly, and one side of your hair may end
up longer than the other.

7. Don’t try to style soaking-wet hair. Get it 80 per-cent dry first.

8. Hold your head upside down while drying for
extra lift.

9. A vent brush will give your hair more volume.

10. Tease your hair with a toothbrush or baby comb.
The small bristles will add a lot of volume to
small sections of hair.

11. Use a ponytail to create an instant face-lift.

12. Reactivate a style by spritzing with spring water.

13. Never wash hair with hot water.

14. Always use a metal core brush to dry hair. The
metal locks in heat to make hair dry faster, and
tames and polishes hair by smoothing cuticles.

tip:
Take a strand test to make cer-tain that you’re using the correct
shampoo for your hair type.
Does it snap easily? Your hair is fine or oily.
Is it hard to break? Your hair is coarse or dry.

Dandruff

                         Dandruff

Vitamin E capsules or vitamin E oil rubbed into your
scalp will take away those ugly flakes.

Aloe vera gel applied all over your head will work
immediately. Let it set for about 5 minutes, sham-poo, and rinse.

I interviewed world-famous hairstylist to the stars,
Dusty Fleming of Beverly Hills, who provided me
with a unique dandruff shampoo:

Mash 30 aspirin tablets. Add to any bottle of sham-poo. No need to refrigerate.

tip:

Any strong dandruff shampoo will work in an emergency to
remove extra color from chemically treated hair.
Use it in a pinch when you leave your solution on
too long
.

Dry Cleaning

When shampooing is not an option, use either 2 tablespoons of cornstarch or 1 tablespoon of talcum powder and brush through the hair.
